President Trump: Making DC Great

By John Fredericks | DC Dispatch
WASHINGTON, D.C. —-

For years, the nation’s capital was allowed to decay — marred by crime, graffiti, and crumbling infrastructure — amid a bureaucratic acceptance of decline as inevitable.

President Donald J. Trump rejected that surrender from Day One, and under his leadership, the Trump Administration is proving that decline is not destiny.

It’s a choice — and America is choosing greatness again.

This week, the historic cascading fountain at Meridian Hill Park roared back to life after years of disrepair.

What was once a stark symbol of neglect now flows powerfully again as a visible emblem of rebirth in the heart of Washington.

That fountain didn’t fix itself. It took leadership, will, and a President who refuses to accept that the greatest capital city on Earth should look like a forgotten relic.

This is about far more than water and landscaping.

It’s about rekindling national pride in the city that represents the American Republic. These restoration projects signal a fundamental shift — a rejection of mediocrity and a renewed commitment to excellence in the place where our democracy and freedom are on permanent display to the world. Every crumbling monument left unrepaired, every graffiti-tagged wall left untouched, every broken fountain left silent sends a message.

President Trump is changing that message – for the better.

Dozens of additional restoration, infrastructure, and beautification projects are now underway across Washington as the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026. From the National Mall to neighborhood parks, from historic landmarks to public spaces that everyday Washingtonians use — this Administration is investing in the soul of the city.

Where past administrations offered excuses and stagnation, the Trump Administration is delivering visible, tangible results that you can see, feel, and touch in our nation’s capital.

I’ve watched this city struggle under one-party mismanagement — ballooning budgets, exploding crime, failing schools, and a political class more interested in protecting its own power than serving residents.

Washington D.C. is the geographic and symbolic heart of America  — it includes the monuments, the corridors of government, and some of the most historically significant neighborhoods in our country. It deserves leadership that matches that significance.

Make DC Great isn’t just a slogan. It’s a governing philosophy.

It means safe streets so families can walk to school and parents don’t have to fear for their kids.

It means clean, beautiful public spaces that reflect the city’s dignity and attract investment.

It means fiscal responsibility instead of the reckless tax-and-spend policies that continue to drive residents and businesses out of the District

And it means a DC that is a true partner with the federal government — not a political adversary — in making the capital of the free world something every American can be proud of.

Decline is a choice. So is greatness.
