WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a flurry of overnight posts on Truth Social, President Trump, returning a day early to D.C. from the G-7 in Canada, took aim at French President Emmanuel Macron and podcaster Tucker Carlson.
Trump took issue with Macron’s public comments that Trump left the G-7 to work on an Israeli-Iran ceasefire.
He posted this on Truth Social:
“Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”
Trump was equally succinct in an earlier Monday night post when he warned residents of Tehran to get out of the city, saying Iran should have taken the deal.
His post:
“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
Taking on blistering criticism from some podcasters and new media figures who are falsely claiming the mantle of America First, Trump blasted Tucker Carlson:
“Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that, ‘IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!'”
On Air Force One flying back from Canada, Trump held a late-night gaggle with the traveling press corps. The President reportedly said he is not seeking a “ceasefire,” but wants a real, enduring end to the conflict.
“I didn’t say I wanted a ceasefire,” Trump said. “I want a real end to war, and that involves Iran giving up entirely on nuclear arms.”
Trump said he wants “people to be safe.” He added that he’s returned to Washington to be in the situation room, not “on the phone.”
Trump then posted on Truth Social, firing back at what he called “fake news” about claims he is trying to meet with the Iranians:
“I have not reached out to Iran for ‘Peace Talks’ in any way, shape, or form. This is just more HIGHLY FABRICATED, FAKE NEWS! If they want to talk, they know how to reach me. They should have taken the deal that was on the table – Would have saved a lot of lives!!!”
