For years, Washington, D.C., was a case study in what happens when politicians abandon public safety.
In 2023, the city spiraled into chaos. Homicides surged to 274, the highest level in over two decades. Carjackings exploded — random, violent, and terrifying — turning routine commutes into roll-the-dice moments for families and workers.
Then leadership changed.
By 2025, after President Trump inspired all DC’s finest police officers to do their job like they know how – and supported them with the national guard – they plummeted to 127.
There has been one unfortunate homicide in DC (a teenager) so far in 2026.
That hasn’t happened in over thirty years.
That’s not a coincidence. That’s cause and effect.
President Trump stepped in where local officials failed — standing up for law enforcement, deploying the National Guard when necessary, and restoring consequences for criminal behavior. Police were finally allowed to police again.
The result? Criminals backed off. DC Communities breathed again.
Carjackings, once the calling card of a lawless city, have now dropped to or below pre-pandemic levels. The fear that dominated headlines in 2023 is fading — replaced by something Washington hasn’t felt in years: order.
This is the lesson Democrats hate, but reality keeps proving:
When you back the cops, crime goes down.
Trump delivered law and order. Washington, D.C. is safer because of it.

Despite obstruction from Democrats, President Trump has made our border the most secure in American history, encounters are at record lows, and the worst of the worst criminals are being taken off of our streets every day.
