Winsome Earle-Sears is ready to face voters. Abigail Spanberger is hiding from them.
RICHMOND, VA – This morning, the Winsome Earle-Sears campaign formally accepted a debate offer with Nexstar (WAVY) hosted by Norfolk State University. And yesterday, the Earle-Sears campaign formally accepted a debate with CNN.
On the other hand, Abigail Spanberger, a self-proclaimed progressive, declined an offer to a debate hosted by CNN and has yet to formally accept the Nexstar debate. Spanberger hasn’t debated since she first ran for Congress. She then famously cancelled a debate with then-Republican Nominee Yesli Vega in 2022.
It’s no surprise she’s avoiding voters once again on issues that matter to them. Her refusal to face voters comes as critical questions about her record go unanswered:
- Does Abigail Spanberger support boys changing in girls’ locker rooms?
- Does Abigail Spanberger support boys competing in girls’ sports?
- Does Abigail Spanberger support Steve Descano, or will she return his campaign donation and call for his removal?
- Why did Abigail Spanberger vote to lower penalties for violent crime in Washington, D.C.?
- Will Abigail Spanberger admit that sanctuary policies make Virginians less safe?
- Does Abigail Spanberger believe parents should be notified of their child’s wellbeing in schools?
- Will Abigail Spanberger denounce prosecutors who refuse to enforce the law?
- Does Abigail Spanberger support President Biden’s open-border policies that have allowed violent criminals to enter the country?
Winsome Earle-Sears is prepared to debate, to lay out a commonsense vision for Virginia, and to answer every question voters have about the future of the Commonwealth.
“Abigail Spanberger turning down a CNN debate is beyond absurd. It’s proof she’s terrified of facing voters in an unscripted setting,” said Press Secretary Peyton Vogel. “She hasn’t stepped on a debate stage since she first ran for office in 2018. In 2022, she infamously pulled out at the last minute. Now she’s running from CNN, one of the friendliest stages she could ask for. If she’s too afraid to show up there, what’s she hiding from? She can either step on that stage with Winsome Earle-Sears and defend her record or admit to Virginians that she can’t.”
When the lights come on, Spanberger leaves the stage.
