Jimmy Kimmel Canceled By ABC
Jimmy Kimmel finally got what he deserved. ABC has yanked Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the late-night show host mocked the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel didn’t crack a joke — he spewed venom. His Monday night rant smeared MAGA as desperately trying to score political points from Kirk’s death. Zero sympathy for the family. Zero respect for the dead. Pure partisan bile. Disgusting.
The blowback was instant:
- Nexstar, one of ABC’s most influential affiliate companies, dumped him from all 32 stations.
- Sinclair, their largest local TV affiliate, dropped him nationwide.
- The FCC chair called his remarks “the sickest conduct possible.”
Then, the corporate suits at ABC had no choice: they pulled the plug and jettisoned his show.
Now, instead of Kimmel’s tired “orange man bad” routine, viewers will see a national remembrance of Charlie Kirk this weekend. That’s justice.
Kimmel’s contract may limp along until next year, but he’s done. Stick a fork in him. Late-night is collapsing, and Kimmel just lit the match on his own career. The Hollywood clown got canceled by his own arrogance and ignorance.
Rant-O-Rama
During his Monday monologue, Kimmel smeared MAGA supporters, saying:
“The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Prosecutors have said Robinson doesn’t appear to have any MAGA or pro-Trump motivations. Instead, documents suggest his anger toward Kirk was personal and driven by a belief that Kirk was spreading hate.
Nexstar’s Andrew Alford, president of its broadcasting division, issued a sharp criticism of Kimmel.
“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse. We do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located. Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform is simply not in the public interest at the current time.”
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr blasted Kimmel’s remarks as “the sickest conduct possible” and warned ABC/Disney could face regulatory consequences. Affiliate executives called the comments “offensive, insensitive, and not in the public interest.”
Then Sinclair, the ABC company’s largest nationwide affiliate, lowered the boom and announced it was indefinitely preempting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,” Sinclair’s Vice Chairman Jason Smith said. “We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities. We appreciate FCC Chairman Carr’s remarks today. This incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks.”
Sinclair says it won’t lift the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” until talks take place with ABC. The company has also called on Kimmel to apologize to the Kirk family, and make a donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.
To make matters worse for Kimmel, Sinclair announced it will replace his late-night slot with a special remembrance of Charlie Kirk, airing nationwide this weekend.
Kimmel’s contract with ABC expires next year, but his fate may already be sealed. Combined with CBS canceling Stephen Colbert, the late-night landscape looks headed for a total shakeup.
Bottom line: The “comedian” got canceled — not by MAGA, not by Trump — but by his own arrogance.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Jimmy.
Shout out to Nexstar’s Alford for having the guts to be the first to cancel Kimmel.
One man with courage makes a majority.
