President Donald J. Trump stands with the American people — no lawmaker, regardless of party or seniority, should utilize insider information for personal profit. In his State of the Union Address to Congress earlier this year, President Trump called for the passage of the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay to ensure that Members of Congress cannot profit from insider information.
“As we ensure that all Americans can profit from a rising stock market, let’s also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit using inside information… Did Nancy Pelosi stand up? Doubt it. Pass the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay.” – President Trump, State of the Union Address
Yet, today EVERY SENATE DEMOCRAT BLOCKED this legislation to root out corruption in Washington and ban Members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children from purchasing individual stocks from publicly traded companies. Members of Congress shouldn’t be buying individual stocks while writing laws and making decisions that directly move financial markets. This is common sense.
| Republicans and President Trump are UNITED behind the Stop Insider Trading Act – critical legislation that would deliver the most significant change to stock trading rules in over a decade after President Obama’s STOCK Act failed to hold members accountable. Look no further than Nancy Pelosi as proof that a stock trading ban is necessary to stop corruption at the highest levels and restore the public’s trust. When lawmakers consistently outperform stock trading benchmarks, Americans are rightly asking questions and demanding transparency. Democrats are now on the record opposing this commonsense legislation that nearly 90% of Americans support. In July, House Democrats voted almost unanimously against advancing this legislation. |
|
| This legislation also included a commonsense provision that would require voters to provide a photo ID to vote to ensure that only American citizens vote in American elections— a measure that is vastly supported by the American people. |

Thursday, October 1, 2026 1:44 PM EDT
By: Jon Michael Raasch, White House Correspondent
On Hezbollah getting nuclear weapons: ‘They cannot have nuclear weapons, and they won’t have, and they’re agreeing not to have them.’
On Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh voting to raise interest rates: ‘I want him to vote the way he wants. I personally would have voted against the rates because we’ve got inflation totally under control. Inflation was caused by Biden, the worst inflation in history.’
On looking at establishing a US military base in Venezuela or South America: ‘We’re looking at doing a lot of things. We’re getting along very well, as you know. And Venezuela has been a great situation. The people are happy, and I’m very happy. We’re taking a lot of oil, and we have a great relationship. And Venezuela’s making a lot of money, and so are we. We’re going to start filling up our national strategic reserves with the Venezuelan oil for very little money, and it’s going to be great.’
On Lara Trump saying the Iran war ‘could cost’ Trump and the Republicans in the midterms: ‘Well, it’s possible. I don’t. It should help because Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. So when you say, “Is it okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon? I would say 100% of the people say no, including worldwide.
On endorsing a Republican in the 2028 presidential race: ‘We have a great bench of people. We have tremendous people. We really, the Democrats don’t have a bench at all. We have a great bench.’
On the UK terrorist suspects being released: ‘I was surprised at that. We are going to speak. I was surprised they were released on bail. I have a lot of respect, however, for Scotland Yard. I think they know what they’re doing. But I was a little bit surprised.’
On Pardons for his aides: ‘So it’s not something I’m thinking about now, but based on Biden, I can do whatever I want because he certainly pardoned a lot of people. He pardoned everybody of note.’
On campaigning in Oklahoma and Alabama: ‘Well, I won all of them by a lot. I’m going there just to make sure. But in the case of Oklahoma, we pretty much, I hope, won that race because that was a race in the Republican party for governor. And the person I endorsed who was not at all leading when I endorsed him … ended up winning.’
On frustrations with GOP ‘screwing up’: ‘Well, I think the press isn’t treating us fairly … I give us an A+ on the government, on economics, on everything. … Oil is going to come down very very soon. Oil is coming down as soon as Iran is finished and their finished pretty much right now. We’re getting more oil out of the Hormuz Strait now than we did before the war.’
On who will replace Karoline Leavitt as press secretary: ‘Well, we have a lot of people that want that job. I would say many of them are right here. Maybe a guy like Peter [Doocy]. But he’s making too much money … I lost him as soon as he negotiated his last contract.’
On the hijacked FlyDubai flight: ‘We’re working on that right now. They’re being very open with us. I would say the answer based on what I’m hearing is yes. But we’re working on it right now.’
On GOP Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton reportedly badmouthing the GOP midterm convention and Trump still going to Texas: ‘Well, I’ll tell you why. We have to win this election. That convention was a tremendous success. it went up against the NFL. … They had 24 million views. We had 107 million views. In other words, we beat the NFL by four times. We were there for a lot of reasons. First of all, I won Texas all three times. I won the Hispanic vote all three times. Texas has been great to me.’
On the Cornell University rape investigation: ‘Well, I don’t know much about it, but Cornell’s a fine school, and I’m sure they’ll do what’s right.’
